Mount Lafayette (5260')
Mount Lafayette is one of, if not the, most popular peak in the White Mountains. In 2015 the Boston Globe named it "the #1 Hike in the White Mountains" and with good reason. The views of Franconia Notch and the Franconia Ridge are awe-inspiring and it is all possible to do in one day.
Park at the Lafayette Place parking area on the East side of Route 93 (If no parking is available park on the West side and safely cross)
After 0.2 mi. on the approach trail turn left (North) onto The Old Bridle Path
Take The Old Bridle Path for 2.7 mi. to the Greenleaf Hut
Say hello to the Hut Croo or Caretaker if they are around!
Continue on The Old Bridle Path for 1.1 mi. as it approaches and summits Mt. Layafette
Most Direct Route:
The full Franconia Ridge is very doable in one day and is an incredible experience. If doing the loop I suggest starting on The Falling Water Trail and crossing the ridge line South to North, starting at Little Haystack and finishing at Lafayette.
