Mount Jefferson (5712')

Named for the founding father and author of the Declaration of Independence. Mount Jefferson is the 3rd highest peak in the White Mountains and the Southernmost Presidential with the exception of Mount Washington.

  1. The Presi Range is criss-crossed with many different trails and summits. You're going to want to keep your map handy and really pay attention.
  2. The Presi Range is rugged and rocky. Give yourself plenty of time on these hikes.
  3. Mt. Washington is called "the home of World's Worst Weather" for a reason. It can go from a bright sunny day to a downpour and back in a matter of minutes. BE PREPARED!

Parks at the Caps Ridge Parking Area

Take the Caps Ridge Trail for 1.1 mi. (moderate difficulty)

Continue straight (East) on the Caps Ridge Trail (difficult) for 1.0 mi.

Take a left (North East) onto the MJL Trail (Moderate Difficulty) 0.5 mi. to the summit of Mt. Jefferson
